Privacy Policy

Selby Solar helps estimate solar charging and recommend useful panel adjustments. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.

Information used by the app

The app uses the location you select or permit, equipment settings, battery state, and weather data to calculate sunlight and charging estimates. App settings and charging sessions are stored on your device. Selby Solar does not require an account.

Location and weather

Location is used to calculate the sun’s position and request weather forecasts for the selected area. Location access can be changed in system Settings. Before latitude and longitude are sent to Open-Meteo, Selby Solar rounds both values to two decimal places so the weather request represents an approximate area rather than your precise position. Open-Meteo also receives the technical request information needed to return a forecast.

Notifications and background updates

If you allow notifications, Selby Solar registers an Apple Push Notification service (APNs) device token and sends that token together with your current time-zone identifier to the app’s notification service hosted on Cloudflare. This information is used only to deliver and coordinate notifications and background forecast updates. It is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. You can stop notifications at any time in system Settings.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple. RevenueCat is used to determine product availability and subscription entitlement. Selby Solar does not receive or store your payment-card details.

Analytics and diagnostics

The app may use Firebase Analytics to understand feature usage and purchase-flow events, and Sentry to diagnose crashes and technical failures. These services may process device, app-version, event, and diagnostic information. Diagnostic reports are designed not to include precise location or the contents of your charging sessions.

Sharing and retention

Information is shared only with service providers needed to operate purchases, forecasts, notifications, analytics, and diagnostics, or when required by law. On-device data remains until you delete it or remove the app. Service providers retain information under their own policies.

Your choices

You can deny location access, change permissions in system Settings, delete stored app data, or uninstall the app. Some calculations may be unavailable without the required location or weather information.

Children

Selby Solar is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

This policy may be updated when the app or its service providers change. The effective date above identifies the latest version.
